Azita Sharif (Founder and CEO)

Azita Sharif has significant experience with start-ups through her work as a principal and a Kauffman Fellow at Advent International Global Private Equity, where she managed investment programs in both the US and Argentina. Since 1997, while pursuing a dual graduate degree program, Ms. Sharif has advised a number of seed-stage start-ups on writing their business plans and in seeking venture funds. As a result of her efforts, a number of these companies have received term sheets and closed funding. She also participated in the start-up of a new venture fund, Triton Venture Management ($45 M under management), in Austin, TX. Before entering the venture capital industry, Ms. Sharif worked in the semiconductor industry with Praxair, Inc. both in Research & Development and in Sales and Marketing, for which she received the Special Recognition Award for customer service.

Ms. Sharif earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees with Honors in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master's degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Since 1995, she has also served as a judge in the annual International Moot Corp. Business Plan Competition, named "the Superbowl" of international business plan competitions by Business Week. She has served as Director of the Executive Board of the Women's Leadership Initiative at the JFK School of Government at Harvard University since 1996. Darrel Quah (Project Manager & System Implementation Manager)

Darrel Quah joined Daedalus Software as Project and System Implementation Manager. He brings with him ten years of work experience in the software engineering field. He has worked on system integration, application performance evaluation and tuning, and software quality assurance.

Darrel spent five years at Lightbridge Inc. as a Senior Performance Engineer and Software QA Manager. While at Lightbridge he improved the production readiness of enterprise software by scaling software products to support a high number of users as needed by customers.  He also managed a QA team and established SQA methodology for detecting product defects and capturing key metrics to improve accuracy of project estimates.

Darrel also spent three years at UNIFI Communications in their quality assurance engineering department. One of his important contributions was engineering a comprehensive test automation to speed up regression test cycles and achieve significant software quality improvements.

Darrel is a recent graduate of MIT's Sloan School of Business and School of Engineering with a MS in Engineering and Management. Darrel also has a MS in Information Systems from Northeastern University and BA in economics from Bates College.

Erik Lickerman, M.D.  (Vice President- Bio-Informatics) 

 

Dr. Lickerman brings over ten years of experience in medical bio-informatics to Daedalus.  After studying molecular biology as an undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he earned an M.D. from the University of Illinois.  He then completed five years of residency in anatomic and clinical pathology included a fifth year as an informatics fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical center.

 

After completing his residency, he began his career as an informatician in several start-ups.  A programmer in a variety of languages and technologies since the 6th grade, Erik served in highly technical roles, doing analysis, architecture, object design and coding of clinical informatics projects.  After these years of experience he emerged a nearly unique combination of domain expertise in molecular biology and laboratory and clinical medicine as well as a very capable object-oriented designer and programmer.

 

After concentrating on applying information technology to the problems of clinical medicine and the electronic medical record, Erik is pleased to return to his laboratory roots with Daedalus. He can be reached at ELickerman@DaedalusSoftware.com.

 

Karen Smith-Mosley (Compliance Officer, Transplant Products and Services)

Ms. Mosley joined our team as the General Manger for Transplant Services in 2005.  In this position, she is responsible for managing the overall technical aspects of Biomaterial Tracking & Management for Transplant Operations (BTMTM-Transplant), including both Transplant Tissue Banks and Organ Procurement Organizations (OPO).  In this capacity, Karen overseas client relationships, project deliverables, product upgrades as they related to clients’ evolving requirements and their compliance with FDA and JCAHO mandates and proposal.
 
Ms. Mosley brings 15 years of operational and technical experience to the Daedalus team in research and development, manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control, and tissue banking.  In her most recent position as the COO of The Blood & Tissue Center of Central Texas, Ms. Mosley provided leadership in Donor Services (medical suitability/consent), Technical Services (production/processing and quality control) and Hospital Services (hospital development and distribution). Furthermore, she implemented new industry regulations in the Tissue Center and worked directly with Director of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance to ensure compliance. Ms. Mosley has operational expertise in OSHA and EPA Requirements, Environmental Health and Safety Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), ISO Certification, Good Aseptic Practices, and Six Sigma Principles. Prior to her role as the COO, she held several positions with responsibilities for Quality Control and Manufacturing as Senior Quality Assurance Specialist, Laboratory Manager, QA Auditor, and Director of Technical Services in both Transplant and Research Healthcare Industries. Matt Richter (Associate Project Manager) 
 

Matt Richter joined Daedalus as an Associate Project manager.  He comes to us from a leading internet media firm.  His previous role included internal IT support of the company as well as maintenance of business-critical IT operations such as system backup, web and email services, and 50 Linux-based ad servers. His experience at a successful, growing company bolstered his knowledge of the business world and inspired him to seek broader responsibilities.  Prior to this role, he worked for a company developing Process Management software.  He was the company’s director of Information Technology as well as the primary customer support contact, managing numerous cases at any given time.  He also managed software licensing throughout the company’s client base.  Since Matt graduated from Merrimack College with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science, he has attended other technical courses to expand his technical knowledge.  He can be reached at MRichter@DaedalusSoftware.com.

Reza Zanjani (Vice President- Business Analysis)

 

Reza Zanjani joined Daedalus Software with a decade of scientific R&D and management experience. Mr. Zanjani has held various positions spanning from academic institutions such as Yale University, to the biotechnology industry, where he contributed to Amgen, Inc. Mr. Zanjani’s scientific experience and background is complemented with M.B.A from Pepperdine University and deep business understanding of the healthcare and biotech/pharma industry.  In 2002, he co-founded an ethical forum for business students at Pepperdine University. His appreciation for business development and aptitude in strategic management has led Mr. Zanjani in assisting organizations with translating technology into business success.

Prior to joining Daedalus Software, Mr. Zanjani managed the Pediatrics Infectious Diseases Laboratories at Boston University and Boston Medical Center. Concurrent to his overall management capacity at this position, Mr. Zanjani was actively involved in conducting antibody mediated complement activity studies on potential vaccine candidates for non-typable Haemophilus influenzae and assessment of epidemiological studies regarding immunity and vaccines.

Mr. Zanjani has been published in prestigious scientific journals such as Journal of Immunology, and American Journal of Physiology, as well as having abstract presented at American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He is fluent in Farsi and English, and his cross cultural communication and international travels have lent to comprehension of Spanish, and Arabic. Richard Gutcho (Principal Software Engineer)
 
Mr. Gutcho is a Principal Software Engineer at Daedalus Software, Inc.  He is the technical lead for Daedalus’ US based clients, and is an integral team member of Daedalus’ large overseas development center. 
 
Mr. Gutcho has 20 years of software product development experience in the areas of project leadership, design, coding, testing, integration, deployment, quality control and performance tuning.  In the past several years, he has developed enterprise web-based solutions encompassing the following technologies: .Net Framework using C#, Java/J2EE, JavaScript, XML, and SQL. Stephen Dolat(Chief Operating Officer)
 

Stephen Dolat comes to Daedalus Software with 30 years of IT and management experience.  He spent the past 7 years at Pfizer, Inc. where his responsibilities progressed steadily.  He managed multiple IT projects within discovery and pharmaceutical sciences research areas.  As part of his responsibilities, he supervised the development of applications that supported Pfizer’s large scale biobank.  Additionally, he spent several years leading the development of multiple global applications that supported supply chain functions such as receiving, storing, and transporting large numbers of chemical compounds. 

Mr. Dolat has successfully managed people and projects across a full spectrum of business disciplines in a wide range of environments.  He has significant experience managing IT projects in Italy, England, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Malaysia

Prior to his work at Pfizer, he was a Vice President for a mid-sized consulting firm that developed custom software for the Department of Defense.  He also spent 10 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy’s nuclear Submarine Force serving on 4 different submarines during the Cold War.  He can be reached at SDolat@DaedalusSoftware.com.
